Frank discovers a door through timespace just after getting murdered by a very upset Donnie, whose girlfriend Frank accidently ran over. Frank haunts his town for many years, often chatting with a teacher who quits her job and helps Frank figure out how to regain his life, which turns out to be at the sacrifice and redemption of his murderer's own life. Frank gains Donnie's trust by revealing intimate secrets in the town and feeds Donnie's egocentric desires to be a hero so that Donnie is prepared to sacrifice his own life to save Gretchen's life, and Frank's too.
